Dearborn Youth Symphony

ENSEMBLES The Symphony Orchestra is comprised of advanced musicians. In addition to a challenging repertoire, these musicians are further enriched by master classes directed by guest clinicians and perform alongside the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra in their annual May concert. The Symphony Orchestra meets from 7:15-9:00 pm on Mondays throughout the season.
The DYS is comprised of the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, String Orchestra, Advanced Flute Choir and Intermediate Flute Choir. Musicians range in age from 8 to 22 and represent over 27 communities.

The Dearborn Youth Symphony Orchestra
The Concert Orchestra's intermediate musicians are able to read music proficiently and have sufficient musical ability to play standard orchestral arrangements. The Concert Orchestra meets on Mondays from 5:30-7:00pm. The String Orchestra is comprised of beginning musicians with only a few years experience. These beginning musicians are challenged while experiencing the satisfaction of performing as part of a community youth orchestra. The String Orchestra meets on Mondays from 5:15-6:15 pm.
The Flute Choirs consists of advanced and intermediate ensembles. The Advanced Flute Choir meets on Mondays from 6:30-7:30pm, and the Intermediate Flute Choir meets from 7:00-8:00pm. Advanced members are commonly also members of the Symphony Orchestra.

The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center is the home venue for the Dearborn Youth Symphony and the location for rehearsals and performances. This state-of-the-art theatre truly enhances the musical experience of both performers and audience.
