HISTORY
 
The Dearborn Youth Symphony (DYS) was formed in 1975 to provide young performers with symphonic ensemble experience and to foster interest in instrumental music. The DYS has become an integral step to greater musical achievement for many young musicians in the area. Today, with the sponsorship of the Dearborn Recreation Department of The City of Dearborn, strong parental volunteer efforts, and talented and dedicated conductors, the DYS continues to nurture and challenge young musicians. Membership includes elementary through college age students from over 25 communities in the southeast Michigan metro area. The DYS is comprised of two orchestras and a flute choir.
